Tuscon, Arizona
We made it to our destination after about a month long journey from Florida to Arizona. We were headed to the World's Best Roadschool Convention to be held at the KOA in Tucson. I helped out as the rally coordinator. We had a blast before, after and during the rally.
This was the second rally we had attended, our first being in Tampa, in February. Coming together with other Fulltime Families is quickly becoming of our favorite parts about being on the road. The kids enjoyed playing with their friends from sun rise to sun set and beyond. With outdoor movie nights, swimming, bike rides, and giggling girls, the kids has a blast.
During our time in Tuscon I planned field tips for the families to attend before and after the rally. We were able to get great discounts as homeschoolers.
Here are some of the adventures we had in Tuscon.
Saguaro National Park
Located in the Sonoran dessert, the National Park surrounds the 500 square miles around the city of Tuscon. This is the home of the Saguaro cactus.
While at the park we hiked a few of the trails as well as took a scenic drive though the park.
Old Tucson
Stepping back in time, we headed to Old Tucson. This was the location where they have filmed over 300 western movies and television shows.
We watched stunt men have gun fights, panned for gold, road old cars, and enjoyed life on a movie set for a day. Welcome to the Wild West
Pima Air and Space Museum
Great place for Airplane enthusiast. This place is huge. It is over 80 acres and more than 300 airplanes. We spent a couple hours here (glad we had the discount), and that was more than enough for us.
Arizona- Sonora Desert Museum
The mission of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is to inspire people to live in harmony with the natural world by fostering love, appreciation, and understanding of the Sonoran Desert.
Rated as Tuscon's #1 attraction we had to check it out. It's a little bit of everything a zoo, a botanical gardens, a history museum, and an aquarium.
