Rocky Mountain National Park
We often talk about expectations and Rocky Mountain National Park certainly exceeded my expectations. As we headed to the park, about 2 hours from Denver, we could see the snow covered mountain peaks in the distance. When we arrived in Estes Park there was an Elk that was right in the middle of the town. Our visits to the National Parks, never disappoint.
We had the pleasure of visiting the park with our friends from http://free2breathe.com/.
Adventures from Rocky Mountain National Park
Sprague Lake: An easy hike, just a little over a 1/2 mile with amazing views. There were a few snow piles left after a snow earlier in the week, so a snow ball fight was a must.
Alberta Falls: With 6 kids under 10 this was a great distance with just slight elevation change. There were many stops along the way to look at the scenery. The falls were surrounded by rocks for climbing.

Wildlife: During our visit, it was during the Elk Rut. The elk make a high pitched bugling sound. We watched as they came out of the woods into the elk viewing area. We also saw many deer and an abundance of trout in the stream.
