Mesa Verde National Park- Mesa Verde, Colorado
Description:
Mesa Verde National Park is the home to over 5,000 archaeological sites.
Location: Mesa Verde, CO (Southwestern CO)
Cost: $10.00 per vehicle
Adventure Highlights:
Mesa Verde has been on our "bucket list" since we started our adventure. When traveling to Moab we knew we wanted to make sure to check this off our list.
Unfortunately, we were a bit early in the season for guided tours of the cliff dwellings but we visited the visitors center and then continued into the park.
The Petroglyph Point Trail.
What a hike! We started the hike with enthusiasm and lots of energy. From the museum you hike down the hill and get a great view of the Spruce Tree House. This cliff dwelling unfortunately is closed and we were not able to explore it.
The views from the trail were amazing and a little scary at times. The trail squeezes through rocks and climbs many rocks stairs. The Petroglyph can be seen on as a large panel in the middle of the trail. The second part of the hike was much easier and fairy flat. along the ridge.
We just thought we were going on a small hike but it proved to be so much more.
It's Not about the Destination. It's about the Journey.
