Land of Lincoln

Today we visited the Lincoln Home National Historical Site and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, Illinois.

The Lincoln Home National Historical Site, was the home where the Lincolns lived in Springfield. The tour was free. It was a 25 minute guided tour. The home appears as it would have in the 1860's. This is the only home the Lincoln's ever owned. Dylan earned the first Junior Ranger Badge. He was so proud. The Junior Ranger program is a program put on by the National Park Service for the kids to explore and learn more about the parks.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is located just a few blocks away. A great history experience for the kids. Derek liked the Civil War section the most. The museum is self guided so you can take as much time as you need to look at the exhibits. The layout was simple to follow and easy to navigate with the stroller. We visited for 2 1/2 hours.
