Bottomless Lake State Park- New Mexico

Heading west from Carlsbad Caverns this was our view for MANY of miles. The roads were very primitive and we wondered where our travel partners were taking us. They were bringing us to one of their favorite parks we were skeptical until we arrived at

Bottomless Lakes State Park

the beautiful blue-green color was a welcome site!

Our backyard for a few days.

The lake was surrounded with high red bluff cliffs.

The park ranger told us a place we could go hunting for pecos diamonds.

small, doubly terminated quartz crystals found in the gypsum outcrops

The pecos diamonds were very easy to find, just laying on top of the ground and everyone was able to participate

 and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

The kids and their treasures.
