City of Rocks and Faywood Hot Springs

We parked in the sand in Texas, then we headed to the rocks.

At City of Rocks in New Mexico, we climbed, played hide and seek, and enjoyed the beauty around us. Formed by a volcanic eruption 34.9 million years ago this is a site to see. The boulders reach 40 feet high. The sites at this park are separated by these large boulders so each site seems separate from the others.

There was a nice visitors center, where we learned it was rattlesnake matting season. We were a little more careful once we learned this fact.

Close to the parks entrances was Faywood Hot Springs. Here at a Private Resort we were able to experience hot springs.

What is a Hot Spring you might ask ?

Hot Springs are naturally occurring springs that are produced by geothermally heated groundwater from the Earth's crust. The mineral water comes out of the ground at 137 degrees. The pool temperature at this resort were between 104-107 degrees. Not too hot. Not too cold. We visited here with two other families, and used one of their private pools.
