Adventure Highlights:

Day 1: Hike a Mountain

When we arrived at the Visitors Center we learned there were many different trails in the park which included carriage roads, granite staircases, and IRON RUNGS. So we decided to start with iron rungs.

It was a tough hike but so worth it once we got to the top. An accomplishment and a great place to start at our trip to Acadia.

Day #2:  Jordan Pond, Cadillac Mountain and a Hidden Gem

Jordan Pond provides a scenic view with an easy hike around the pond. The trail is close to the pond's edge on a plank like boardwalk.  The crystal clear water is near magical. Make sure to include popovers and tea (or blueberry lemonade) into your visit to the Jordan Pond area of the park.

Cadillac Mountain is a 3.5 mile drive to the top of the 1,530 feet summit.  From here there is a 360 degree view of the area below, including Bar Harbor.  There are many paths that allow you to make around and see many different views.

Although Dorr Point missed the cut for the National Park Map it was one of our favorite place in the park. We hiked to the point on the granite shoreline, saw the tide pools and climbed the granite staircase.

Day #3: The Land Bridge to Desert Island

During low tide you are able to walk on the land bridge to Desert Island. During high tide this area would be covered with up to 12 feet of sea water. Make sure to watch the tide schedule as it varies greatly day to day. The land bridge is passable and hour and 1/2 before and after low tide.
