Adventure Highlights:

Lower Geyser Basin

Lower Geyser Basin was our first stop once we entered the park. The variety of landscapes is vast. There is a long boardwalk to see many of the thermal features of Yellowstone. The mud pot was one of our favorites. The mud sounds like boiling spaghetti on the stove on a much larger scale.

Midway Geyser Basin

Located in this section of the park is the Grand Prismatic Spring. Here you will see the range of colors in the pools below. The colors are from microbial mats. Not only is it beautiful it is the largest hot spring in the US.

Upper Geyser Basin

The parks number one attraction, Old Faithful, is located in Upper Geyser Basin. It is not the largest or the most frequent in the park, but one of the most predictable. Approximately every 90 minutes the geyser shoots steam and hot water 185 feet in the air. It is very impressive. The eruption last between 2 and 5 minutes. Old Faithful is one of over 300 geysers to see at Yellowstone National Park.
